You have to get up real early to catch the sunrise from the top of Haleakalā. 100% worth the effort—one of the best things I've ever done.

Tough to get a reservation, but so worth it. You can call day-of and try to snag a cancellation spot. My friend saw Owen Wilson here, if you're into that sort of thing. Great food, turtles, a small beach, and an easy excuse to spend a lot of your dollars.

Lilikoi foam mai tais are an absolute must for any trip to Maui. Target a happy hour—food is great too, but let's be honest, we're really here for the mai tais. Two locations: Merriman's up north has amazing ocean views (we saw tons of whales from the bar), but I prefer the Monkeypod location down south.
